Mauritius: Sea, Sun, Sand and Seafood!

Mauritius...yeah yeah! Situated in the Indian Ocean, the island of Mauritius is a tropical paradise! There, the citizens speak Mauritian Creole, French and English. The island will enchant you with its sunny weather, blue sky, clear waters and tropical climate.

Its capital is Port Louis and the place you really should visit is Caudan WaterFront.

I had fun roaming around in there. There are lots of shops and you can find anything you want; clothes, souvenirs, jewellery, shoes, perfume, name it yourself.

There are also numerous restaurants for you to have a taste of the Indian, Chinese, Italian, Mauritian Cuisine. Also available are arcades and cinemas so let's go play some pool or grab your popcorn and go watch Jack Sparrow!

Or you can just sit, lazing in the sun watching the moving waters of the Port while cargo ships go back and forth. Port Louis is a busy city with its streets filled with merchants selling all sorts of things so if you are in mood for some shopping, Port Louis is the place!

But Mauritius is not only about the capital and shopping. Let's go seek the real treasures of Mauritius...the beaches!

Beautiful beaches, clear water, white sand, sunny weather, hot temperature, what more would you ask for? Perfect opportunity to get a tan! A lot of activities available like swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, kite surfing, water ski, parasailing and big fishing games.

So what do you think about those beaches? Nice eh?

Or you want a romantic getaway? Mauritius is the place! Hand to hand walk on the beach, watching the sunset.. <3

Now I want to show you how much fun I had with big fishing games! Hell, those fish are tough to pull out of the water but it was worth all the efforts.

Right here is a Dorado! Took me quite some time reeling and reeling...pheww..to get that huge monster on board.

I also caught lots of yellow tunas, see below.

But Mauritius is not only about shopping and beaches. There is also places to visit for the forest lovers!

Large expanse of forest tucked in mountains, ideal for bird watching, hiking and just a simple family picnic. Mauritius is also the place for history addicts as it has a rich history with the Dutch, British and French.

Mauritius is also renowned for having been the only known home of the dodo, an extinct bird, as it was an easy prey due to its inability to fly and its weight.

Or you might want a nice dip in this cool water because of the hot weather in Mauritius, let's jump off a waterfall! But...uhh..better not do it if you don't know how to do it. You don't want to end up with a broken head or something

Now I was continuing my exploration of this wonderful island when I bumped into a man selling these ( I don't know what the hell those are!!). He explained to me that he fished those in the river. Nice pinchy things to take pictures but it is definitely NOT a lobster so don't confuse!

You want seafood? There are restaurants all along the beaches. Look for fish, prawns, octopus, squid, lobster, seaweed etc. It's yummy!

Even better are the amount and variety of fruits available when you are lazing on the beach getting a tan. Mangoes...yum, tamarind, mixed salad with green mangoes, pieces of cucumbers, pineapples, tamarind and chilli...and get a drink of fresh coconut water... That's what I call holidays!

Now, we are in Mauritius..uhmm, LET'S PARTY! Do a change of music do the "sega", Mauritian music and dance!
